"It's not the camera that takes the photo; it's the photographer" is what we hear time and time again in photography schools.
And it is true.
Forget your clean digital image and jump into the art of classical film grain.
Be amazed and surprised to see what photographers can do with the Holga camera.
Simply put, the Holga is a medium-format camera. But what makes it special are the same things that would make any other cameras “lemons”
--> light fall-off, lack of sharpness, distortion, accidental double exposure, flare, and sometimes a combination of all of the above.
Not only is the Holga a medium-format camera, but it’s also capable of shooting both 6 x 4.5cm and 6 x 6cm formats. The camera has a wide-angle lens and a fast shutter-speed of 1/100th of a second.
Four hundred ISO B&W films tend to work very well but color films are also good to use. An interesting technique is the cross processing of transparency film used in the HOLGA SERIES. I shoot 400 ISO transparency film and develop it as a negative film. This series on Groundlift.org includes very little computer work. Most everything is done in camera and during the film developing.
So, sit back and enjoy the beauty of The Holga.
